User-Interface Design Project part 1

As I stated in one of my first posts I will be tracking the progress of our User-Interface Design Project in this blog. Our project is about improving the bar experience and more specifically the process of ordering drinks in a club or bar. As soon as our proposal was accepted we started working on a User Research Phase.

The User Research Phase
This phase was essential for our project, as it gave us insight in the potential users and target group of our application. Moreover, the User Research Phase helped us to discover problems or annoyances which can occur when ordering drinks in a bar. When we completed the User Research Phase we noticed a couple of problems which should and could be solved with our application.

Design Phase
Before we rushed into the creation of our application we had a few brainstorm sessions about the various solutions to the problems that the potential users and the target group were experiencing. We also did a literature review to gain some knowledge about applications which are already available on the market and applications that are yet to come.

Lo-Fi
After structuring all this information and selecting the best suitable solutions to the existing problems of our target group we began writing scenario’s and the construction of our Lo-Fi prototype. When the Lo-Fi prototype was finished we tested it with a few users to find any mistakes or errors we’ve made in the Lo-Fi prototype. The mistakes and errors we found within the Lo-Fi prototype had to be fixed, because we would soon start constructing the Hi-Fi prototype.

In my next blog you will read about our Hi-fi prototype, so keep an eye out for it.
